Amanda Sweetman
2012-2013 Great Lakes Commission-Sea Grant Fellow

Amanda Sweetman is the Great Lakes Commission Sea Grant Fellow for 2012-2013. Currently, she is working with Commission staff in a number of project areas, including the Great Lakes Wind Collaborative, the Great Lakes Phragmites Collaborative, and several other Great Lakes related policy and advocacy issues. Amanda is working to finish her M.S. in Wetland Ecology from Utah State University. Her thesis research was centered on the ecology and biology of alkali bulrush (Schoenoplectus maritimus) populations in Utah and southern Idaho. She also holds a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Michigan.

Previously, Amanda worked for Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park and Grey Towers National Monument in Pennsylvania. She also worked as a teaching assistant for two summer terms at the University of Michigan’s Biological Station. Amanda grew up in West Michigan and spent the majority of her childhood summers playing in the waters of Lake Michigan.
