Commission Staff Updates Commission gains new web/print specialist Jonathon D. Colman has joined the Great Lakes Commission staff as a program specialist in the Communications and Information Management program, where he will maintain and update the Great Lakes Information Network and become the webmaster for TEACH Great Lakes and the Commission's web site. He will also assist in the page layout and graphic design of the Commission's print publications. Jonathon holds a bachelor of science degree in Scientific and Technical Communication (STC) from Michigan Technological University. Commission gains new environmental quality specialist John Hummer has joined the Great Lakes Commission staff as a program specialist in the Environmental Quality Program, where he will work on projects addressing Remedial Action Plans, Lakewide Management Plans, wetlands and ecosystem monitoring. Hummer holds a master's degree from Michigan State University and previously served as director of Friends of the Jordan River Watershed in northern Michigan. The Great Lakes Commission, chaired by Nathaniel E. Robinson (Wisconsin), is a nonpartisan, binational compact agency created by state and U.S. federal law and dedicated to promoting a strong economy, healthy environment and high quality of life for the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence region and its residents. The Commission consists of state legislators, agency officials, and governors’ appointees from its eight member states. Associate membership for Ontario and Québec was established through the signing of a "Declaration of Partnership." The Commission maintains a formal Observer program involving U.S. and Canadian federal agencies, tribal authorities, binational agencies and other regional interests. The Commission offices are located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. |
