This holiday issue of Keeping it on the Land is taking the opportunity to revisit two successful projects of the past year, as well as taking a look at what the Great Lakes Commission's Strategic Plan has in store for its Non-Point Source Pollution Plan.

This year , 17 organizations received Great Lakes Restoration Grants to reduce sediment from entering the Great Lakes. Sediment, a non-point source pollutant, reduces habitat and food resources for aquatic species in the Great Lakes. Most sediment enters the Great Lakes as the result of soil being washed off the landscape during construction and farming activities.
