Program Benefits 1991 - 2009
The Basin Program has saved millions of dollars in leveraged funds, soil savings, and acreage since its inception in 1991:
* Totals are for all projects completed at the end of the project year, September 2009.
** Reductions from pre-project levels
Program Funding since 1991
Another indicator of the Basin Program's success is the contribution made to projects from local, state and private funds, also known as "matched" funding. The program requires a minimum nonfederal match of 25% of total project costs. However, most projects contribute significantly more local dollars than the required minimum. Since the program's inception, the match has exceeded the minimum by more than$7 million—almost 250% more than the minimum requirement.
