The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Great Lakes Basin Ecosystem Team along with the U.S. EPA's Great Lakes National Program Office, the new Great Lakes Regional GAP Analysis Project Group, and many partners are collaborating on a workshop to discuss and help formulate products, strategies, and actions to promote conservation of Great Lakes islands and coastal near-shore habitats.
Topics will include the development of a framework for a model strategy for both landscape level and local level Great Lakes island conservation; an island conservation ranking/prioritization system; development of coastal habitat classification, including a pilot Great Lakes Coastal GAP Analysis; decision support and spatial database organization; a model communication/outreach plan for Great Lakes island conservation; and identification of actions and next steps to advance conservation of these significant Great Lakes resources.
We invite you to attend this workshop and assist us with this very important step in conserving significant Great Lakes Resources. If you are interested in attending, please see the Workshop Registration page for registration forms, lodging information, etc.
