Great Lakes Air Deposition Program Sponsored Projects
Return to Project List
Project Title: Mercury Speciation Monitoring to Aid the Investigation of Sources and Transport of Mercury Impacting Lake Michigan and Lake Superior
Chemicals Studied:
Ambient mercury species in ambient air at the various monitoring sites within the states, on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior
Geographic Areas: Sites on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior
Project Duration: 2 years
Methods Used: Monitoring will be conducted at established air monitoring sites within the states, as well as temporary sites. Monitoring sites impacted by significant mercury sources, sites located on significant pollutant transport pathways, or sites near established wet deposition monitoring will be selected.
Potential Results and Implications: A major project goal will be to develop a quality database of mercury and ancillary measurements. The database can then in-turn be used by state planning and regulatory staff.
