Great Lakes Day

Great Lakes Day is an annual event hosted by the Great Lakes Commission and the Northeast-Midwest Institute to convey a unified message to Congress expressing the Great Lakes region's priorities for legislation and appropriations to protect our environment and support our economy.

Each year, regional organizations including the Great Lakes Commission, the Northeast-Midwest Institute, the Council of Great Lakes Governors, the Healing Our Waters® - Great Lakes Coalition, the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, the Mayors of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Cities Initiative and Tribal agencies bring approximately 150 people from the region to Washington.

Annual features of Great Lakes Day include an evening reception at the Canadian Embassy, a Congressional Breakfast on Capitol Hill and visits with Congressional offices. Additional details regarding this year's events are available via the Agendas link, above.

This year's Great Lakes Day events take place Wednesday, March 6, continuing on Thursday, March 7, 2013.
