NOAA-GLC Habitat Restoration Partnership Webinars

NOAA-Great Lakes Commission Habitat Restoration Partnership Webinars

FINAL WEBINAR: DATE CHANGED TO JUNE 28!

Join us to discuss recently completed habitat restoration projects at two Great Lakes Areas of Concern.

Habitat restoration in Areas of Concern is a priority for many agencies and organizations across the Great Lakes, but restoration in areas with a legacy of contamination can present challenges and uncertainties above and beyond those encountered in traditional restoration projects. To encourage a dialogue among entities engaged in habitat restoration at Great Lakes AOCs, the Great Lakes Commission (GLC) will host two webinars to review the restoration projects recently completed at the Muskegon Lake, MI AOC and St.Louis River (Hog Island), WI AOC funded through a Great Lakes Restoration Partnership from NOAA. These webinars will offer an overview of the restoration work led by the West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission and Douglas County, WI Land and Water Conservation Department, which were among the first large-scale AOC remediation to restoration projects initated. These webinars will provide information about:

  • AOC habitat restoration planning;
  • Habitat Restoration goals, objectives, outputs and outcomes; and
  • Challenges and successes encountered during project implementation

Format: Webinars will include a 30-45 minute presentation from project leads and others associated with project implementation. Time will be reserved for participants to ask questions and to engage in group dialogue on specific project details, challenges, lessons learned and other AOC restoration issues. Webinars will be recorded and archived for online retrieval at the GLC-Habitat website.
