Habitat Classification Schemes are based on the 2000 Coastal Change Analysis Product (C-CAP) land cover. The classification schemes in the Integrated Coastal Management Tool allow for different detentions habitat, giving the tool user more flexibility in the analysis and the potential to answer a much broader range of questions. The three ways of classifying habitat in the tool are:
Each municipality has an analysis for each of the three classification types. The habitats were defined as follows:
Use of the Analysis. The project area analysis are made available for public use without restriction, however, neither the Great Lakes Commission nor the NOAA Coastal Services Center make any warranty or guarantee of accuracy. The user is strongly advised to throughly investigate all input data sources, analysis parameters, and output results before use of any the analysis. These analysis are not suitable for planning purposes because of the scale of the C-CAP land cover data set (1:100,000). Use of data sources appropriate to planning activities may be used with the desktop version of the tool. The results are suitable for an initial review of municipal resources, the initial identification and prioritization of action or protection areas. |

Project is a two-year cooperative effort (2002-2004) among the Great Lakes Commission, the U.S. National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Michigan Natural Features Inventory with support from NOAA's Coastal
Services Center under its Landscape Characterization and Restoration program.
