Nate Kroeze – Ecologist

Nate Kroeze serves as an ecologist with the GLC and the U.S. Geological Survey. In this role, he collaborates with partners to develop a science-based framework that fosters healthy and resilient coastal ecosystems. Nate works alongside colleagues from the USGS Great Lakes Science Center and is based at the Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station in Chesterton, Indiana.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and environmental geoscience from Boston College, as well as a master’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Notre Dame. Approaching his work through a lens of environmental justice, Nate strives to engage and elevate traditionally marginalized voices in ecological discussions. Outside of work, he enjoys crafting—knitting, crocheting, and spinning yarn—along with hiking and caring for his collection of houseplants.
