About Us

Commissioners and Observers

The Great Lakes Commission consists of three to five representatives from each of its eight member states. The appointment process varies from one state to the next, but in all cases the state delegations are composed of state legislators, agency officials, and/or governors’ appointees. The chair of each state delegation serves on the Commission’s Board of Directors. The Governments of Ontario and Québec appoint delegates to the Great Lakes Commission, consistent with their Associate Member status under the terms of the Declaration of Partnership.
