Great Lakes Commission Launches HABs State of Science Webinar Series
The Great Lakes HABs Collaboratory, in collaboration with Ohio Sea Grant and LimnoTech, is launching a HABs State of Science Webinar Series, which will focus on the latest research related to Harmful Algal Blooms in the Great Lakes.
The series will kick off on June 2, 2016 and consist of at least eight one-hour webinars throughout the summer, each featuring a different topic related to HABs. These webinars will have a speed-talk format: six to eight researchers will speak for five minutes each, followed by a group discussion with all attendees. Webinars will be recorded and posted on the HABs Collaboratory webpage.

The Great Lakes HABs Collaboratory was launched on December 15, 2015, when more than 60 people gathered at NOAA’s Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory to share research, ideas, and information needs related to HABs in the Great Lakes. The overall goal of the Collaboratory is to create a collective laboratory that enables science-based information sharing among scientists, as well as between scientists and decision-makers working on HABs in the Great Lakes. The HABs Collaboratory also provides a network for developing a common knowledge base of current science and science needs, strategies for transmitting key science to managers, and opportunities for management feedback.
