The lake sturgeon population in Michigan and the Great Lakes is on the rebound thanks in part to a collaborative effort between many entities. While efforts span the Great Lakes overall, the sturgeon population in Cheboygan County’s Black Lake has doubled from about 600 to around 1,200 since the start of restoration and stocking efforts more than two decades ago.
