  • Great Lakes Advisory Board Public Meeting

    The re-established Great Lakes Advisory Board (GLAB) will conduct its first virtual public meeting on October 29th, 2020 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Central Daylight Time. The GLAB is one of EPA’s federal advisory committees and is chartered to provide EPA with advice and recommendations on matters related to the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and on domestic matters related to implementation of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement between the U.S. and Canada.

    This year's Great Lakes Water Conference, "Water in the Courts," will be conducted online as a live webinar. Six legal experts will address litigation about the Enbridge pipeline underlying the Straits of Mackinac; an interstate groundwater allocation case pending before the U.S. Supreme Court; the Court's recent County of Maui decision affecting permitting under the Clean Water Act; challenges to the new federal "waters of the United States" rule; high water levels and flooding in and around Lake Ontario; and the Lake Erie Bill of Rights.

    The Wild & Scenic Film Festival for Michigan will be hosted by the Middle Grand River Organization of Watersheds on December 6th. It is a live virtual event so it can be attended from anywhere with an internet connection. The festival will feature 12 films that will celebrate wild places and the people who protect them.
