Our Work

Advocacy

The Great Lakes Commission helps its member states and provinces speak with a common voice by coordinating, analyzing, advising, communicating and advocating for shared priorities. The GLC’s priorities are based on its policy resolutions and strategic plan. A cornerstone of the GLC’s advocacy efforts is its annual Great Lakes Day in Washington at which priorities are shared with the members of Congress and federal agencies who shape Great Lakes policies. The GLC also collaborates with other regional, national and international organizations to advance common interests and coordinate efforts to protect and restore Great Lakes water resources.
