On Monday, the City Council in Lorain, Ohio, gave a first reading of legislation to accept $4 million in federal funding that was earmarked for waterfront redevelopment through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The purpose of the congressional funding is to stabilize and reinforce portions of the Finger Piers, stretches of artificial land built in the 1940s that jut out into Lorain’s harbor.
