The 2020 Great Lakes Water Infrastructure Conference, a first-of-its-kind regional conference hosted by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), will identify the water infrastructure challenges faced by the Great Lakes region and discuss solutions to those challenges.

The public is welcome to observe the MATE Regional ROV competition, an annual underwater robotics competition for students.

The Great Lakes Fishery Commission will hold a public Annual Meeting May 27-28, 2020, in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario.  At this meeting, the public can learn about and discuss developments in the Great Lakes fishery. Commissioners and the U.S. and Canadian Committees of Advisors will hold meetings here as well.

The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Water Basin Resources Council (Compact Council) will meet on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, via webinar conference call.  The meeting will begin immediately following the adjournment of the meeting of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Water Resources Regional Body, expected at approximately 2:45 p.m. EDT.  This meeting will be open to the public and will include an opportunity for public comments.

Rural Communities Rise to the Challenge of Dual Disasters

Local governments with small staffs often do not have the capacity to apply for disaster preparedness funding and can be left out of valuable federal programs.
