Habitat Restoration Database

NOAA-GLC Regional Habitat Restoration Partnership

About the Habitat Restoration Database

Welcome to the Great Lakes Regional Habitat Restoration Database. This site is a compilation of restoration monitoring reports and data collected during habitat restoration projects implemented through National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA)- Great Lakes Commission (GLC) Regional Partnerships. Two Partnerships have been completed (2008 and 2013) and two are currently being implemented (2016 and 2019). To date, these Partnerships have provided $48.7 million in Great Lakes Restoration Initiative funding to habitat restoration projects throughout the Great Lakes Basin.

The site currently has information on four project areas that were funded through the 2013 NOAA-GLC Regional Partnership: the Buffalo River Area of Concern (AOC), the St. Marys River AOC, and the Muskegon Lake AOC. Additionally, the Black Creek Marsh project, located within the Clinton River AOC and funded through the 2016 NOAA-GLC Regional Partnership has been added. A general overview of the metrics associated with projects in each priority area is provided in the main page with accompanying data sets and reports found in the menu on the left-hand side of the page.

The three restoration project sites listed on this restoration database thus far show a combined total of the following for habitat restoration. To see detailed outcomes for each project location, visit the location’s page using the menu to the left.

These environmental data and related items of information have not been formally disseminated by NOAA, and do not represent and should not be construed to represent any agency determination, view, or policy.

Funding

Funding is provided by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through a Regional Partnership between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Great Lakes Commission (GLC).
